Bio
notes to self on journaling (in progress):

- do not talk about us or we or people or society. america's politics lie in it's bedroom talk. write for the history books of the future; not about the frontlines and offices held, but about kitchens and first dates and long baths and sisters. political rants are preachy and boring and uninspired. if you must comment, find a way to bring it into the home.

- but not just death and sex. sales receipts reveal as much as funerals.

- let secrets hang on the clothesline beside the commonplace. do not wear anything too long without letting it touch the air or see the light, and none of your laundry will be dirty.

- try to find the truth in your contradictions. therein lies the heart of your sincerity. discover them, debate them, unfold them—but always maintain them if they are honest. never abandon, deny, or dismiss them, even in the face of opposition.

- never observe something so well that you forget you're a part of it. life is not cinèma verité, it's not the novel you're too lazy to write. do not be a reader of your own life, caring and feeling for yourself only as a character in a predetermined plotline.

- there are no readers. do not write for an audience, write for yourself. if it is good enough, an audience will find it (it will not find an audience). contradiction: there are readers; love them, cherish them, form relationships with them. place your ear against their chests while they sleep and write about what you hear.

- do not file anything down, or it will make it dull. if it's sharp, write it sharp. if it stings, let it sting. if it pricks you and you bleed, make sure it pricks you again when you read it three months later. make sure you still bleed.

- write, write, yes, write! but first live, goddamnit!

Interests (15):

climbing in, haunting dusty beach roads, hiding 'neath my covers, making it real, pulling outta here, rolling down the window, running back inside, sending boys away, showing a little faith, sitting tight, studying my pain, taking hold, taking that long walk, taking your hand, trading in these wings
